Full participation is required of all students.

The live burn exercises held in both the ARFF 40-hour Basic Training and FAA CFR 139 Recertification Live-burn Training are physically demanding including hose advancement, and search and rescue, at an altitude of 5,420 feet, in varying weather conditions and in full PPE. Physical conditioning and health issues should be taken into consideration.
- ARFF 40-hour Basic Training - Casual wear for classroom and full PPE for drill ground (Students should bring their complete PPE ensemble, including SCBA and face piece.)
- FAA CFR 139 Recertification Live-burn Training - Casual wear for classroom and full PPE for drill ground (Students should bring their complete PPE ensemble, including SCBA and face piece.)
- Fire Extinguisher - Casual wear with athletic shoes
The following form must be completed, printed and returned for each student attending a course at the DEN ARFF Academy on the first day of training.
All students attending the ARFF 40-hour Basic Training or the FAA CFR 139 Live-Fire drill training must possess a Firefighter 1 certificate or equivalent.
All class times begin as published. To honor the time of all of our students and ensure that we are operating in the safest environment possible, no certificate will be earned by students arriving more than one hour late to any class. Students missing the safety briefing will absolutely be prohibited from participation in that day's live burn drills. Exemptions can be made for custom classes.
Scheduled courses may be canceled due to low enrollment or other unforeseen circumstances. The Denver Fire Department at DEN reserves the right to cancel a course up to 30 days prior to the scheduled course start date. If a course is canceled, the Denver Fire Department at DIA will make every attempt to contact affected students to offer priority seating in the next available class or to refund tuition payments. The Denver Fire Department at DEN will not be responsible for costs associated with canceling of airplane tickets, hotel reservations, or other related travel costs.
Students have the right to cancel their enrollment in a class, at no charge, up to 30 days prior to the course start date. Students will be charged for cancellations received within less than 30 days prior to class start date.
