‘Here to There’ Art Exhibition Coming to Denver International Airport

Denver International Airport (DIA) is hosting a temporary art exhibit titled, “here to there,” from Nov. 7, 2014 through Feb. 23, 2015. The majority of the artwork will be installed in the Terminal Art Gallery on level 5 of Jeppesen Terminal, while other installations will be on display near the north and south security checkpoints. “Here to there” is curated in collaboration by the DIA Art and Culture Program and The EXPAND Group, a collective of five local artists. Each of the five artists interpret the theme of moving from “here to there” using their medium of choice ranging from encaustic and wood sculpture to fiber, collage and painting. All artworks were specifically created for the exhibition.

Day will highlight DIA's transformative year growing international air service by 13 percent, including DIA's first nonstop flight to Tokyo. Some of the topics will include how DIA was the only large U.S. airport named among the Top 10 in the world by Skytrax as well as having the best airport staff in North America. Day will discuss the progress of the Hotel and Transit Center, which construction crews are pouring the 13th floor of the 14-story building, new concessions and other new amenities aimed to win the hearts of customers. She will talk about areas for improvement with a 19-year-old facility, which will require additional investments to maintain. Day will also address the strong financial future of the airport and how the airport is finding new ways to grow revenue that also provides opportunities to benefit the region.
