More Interactive and Real-Time Information on Denver International Airport’s Homepage

Offering the traveling public precise airport-related information can make the travel experience more positive, and that’s what the new Flydenver.com has been designed to provide. The homepage’s new look allows Web-based information to be found more easily.  Additional links on the new site are complemented with real-time parking availability by location, the security wait times for each of the three passenger screening checkpoints and airport dining options by taste, type and location.  

Businesses that see the new look of the Flydenver.com homepage will notice some change too. To locate the Business Center Web page simply click on the Business Opportunities link on the menu bar at the upper portion of the homepage (see red arrow on the image). 

Click on any of the links within the Business Opportunities section. When a new Web page appears, find the menu bar above the image and click on Business Opportunities to get the page dedicated to topics such as contracts, future opportunities, business requirements, and procurement of goods and services.

Additional updates to the website include updated graphics and photos, improved site navigation, refreshed content, and something brand-new: a mobile-first design. Site users can now seamlessly access the airport’s online information from both mobile devices and desktop computers. No longer will site users need to download an app to get airport information on their mobile devices. The design expands, collapses and displays content to accommodate a variety of screen-sizes.  The redesign also includes site management improvements with a new content management system and a GIS-driven map solution.

Airport Advisory Committee to Help Guide the Future of Denver International Airport

As the fifth-busiest airport in the nation, and 15th busiest in the world, it’s not a coincidence that Denver International Airport has earned these distinctions. The airport’s continual passenger record-breaking numbers and capability for providing a customer experience that exceeds the norm is easily positioning DIA to be America’s most favorite connecting hub and a world leader for aviation travel and traveler amenities. 
  
The DIA administration invited some of the best and brightest in the public and private sectors in various fields to advise the airport about moving the needle toward remaining competitive as one of the busiest hubs in the world’s largest aviation market, the United States. DIA has formed a new Airport Management Advisory Committee to advise the airport and Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock on issues related to the airport’s financial, business and strategic plans, passenger segmentation, air service development, technology opportunities and overall performance. To maintain global and national competitiveness for an airport of this size, the collective experience of this new advisory committee should benefit DIA in its quest to create new industry service standards and deliver superior domestic and global traveler opportunities. 
 
The committee will further the airport’s efforts to sharpen its business focus and remain competitive in an evolving global industry.

“Cities today succeed when they are connected and competitive in the global marketplace,” Mayor Michael B. Hancock said. “Denver is a gateway to the world, and DIA is essential to our regional economy. This new advisory committee will guide us as we navigate the opportunities and challenges of the rapidly changing – and ever more competitive – global aviation industry.”

The committee was modeled after the Federal Aviation Administration’s Management Advisory Council (MAC), to which Mayor Hancock was appointed in January 2014. Established in 1996, Hancock became the first-ever mayor to be appointed to the MAC, which advises the FAA on management, policy, spending and regulatory matters.

“This is a great opportunity for us to learn from great minds in various industries to help guide DIA’s future growth,” DIA Chief Executive Officer Kim Day said. “We are grateful that these individuals have graciously volunteered to share their time and expertise, and look forward to some insightful conversations with them.”

The committee will meet quarterly, and members will serve one-year terms in a volunteer capacity while retaining their private sector positions.

Former Denver Mayor Guillermo “Bill” Vidal added, “Denver International Airport is known for being one of the most beautiful airports in the world but it also has the potential to be much more. The fact that Kim Day and Mayor Hancock want to hear from various experts to help guide the airport’s future indicates a willingness and desire to tap into that potential and take the airport to the next level. I’m pleased to be able to contribute to this effort.”

Denver International Airport - Contract Administration Is Here To Help Contractors

DIA Contract Administration manages payments and compliance throughout the term of a construction or professional service contract. The contract administration staff is available to answer payment questions, process invoices, and provide bond insurance renewal and compliance assistance. They are a team dedicated to assist incumbent contractors with payment, invoicing and other matters, ensuring that contract processing and payment remain seamless and timely.

Denver International Airport’s AIM Development Office Offers Business Education Courses

DIA’s AIM Development Office started offering classes to contractors about providing services at the airport. The classes cover how to set up a company successfully to get airport projects, what it means to do work at an international airport, and special project prerequisites. Some classes will address 2015 projects and others will review AIM Development processes and requirements. These classes are great for networking with industry experts and other entrepreneurs in the community.

Hiring Incentives Benefit Employers

When it comes to hiring new employees, businesses have a unique opportunity to save money while providing career growth opportunities to individuals needing a boost.

Qualified businesses can access wage subsidies in exchange for providing new employees with training and needed experience. No matter the size of your business, you may be eligible to access Denver Workforce Development’s Training Subsidy Program, which is designed to reduce the burden of employee recruitment and additional costs on your payroll.

How it works:

The Training Subsidy Program offers 50-percent reimbursement of wages to businesses that hire qualified individuals to train in new career opportunities. New employees gain valuable work experience, increase their skills and obtain long-term employment.

What you get:

  • Reimbursement of 50 percent of a new hire’s wages for a period of up to six months
  • Pre-screened candidates that closely meet the requirements of your available position(s)
  • The final hiring decision on every pre-screened applicant(s)
  • Ongoing support and assistance during the entire placement period by OED staff

How to qualify:

  • Have a new, full-time position(s) available that provides at least 32 hours of work per week and pays a minimum of $13 per hour
  • Be established in Colorado for at least 120 days
  • Pay into workers’ compensation and unemployment insurance
  • Have not had layoffs within the past 60 days
  • Be able to provide on-the-job training (including a documented general training plan describing the skills to be learned and estimated hours of training for each skill)
  • Pay wages at the current industry standard for the position
  • Agree to retain an employee following the training period, so long as the individual(s) successfully completes the training
  • Have a flexible timeline for starting participation in the program. The process of obtaining subsidized positions can take 3 to 4 weeks. Wage reimbursements can take up to 30 days after we receive your invoice.
